Concerns over dumping at popular Castlebar amenity
CONCERNS have been raised that Castlebar's popular riverside walk amenity is not being treated with the respect it deserves.
Our photograph, taken earlier today, shows an act of indiscriminate dumping at the location close to where walk runs under the bridge at Newtown.
The incident highlights the need for regular patrolling of the area by Mayo County Council's litter wardens.
A regular user of the amenity, who contacted The Connaught Telegraph, said: "This is an absolute disgrace and paints one of the town's finest amenities in a very poor light in the eyes of locals and visitors alike.
"The people responsible for this kind of dumping have to be called to account."
