Mayo developer has planning levy reduced on appeal
A MAYO development firm has been partially successful in appealing against the levies charged by Mayo County Council when granting planning permisison for the demolition of two storey building and construction of retail premises, adaption of boundary wall, construction of wall, shopfront, signage, drainage, lighting and associated works at Main Street, Castlebar.
Jackita Ltd. challenged the decision to charge €143,955 in fees before a single concrete block has been laid.
The fees were in respect of roads, footpaths, community open space and recreational facilities, car parking and surface water .
In its ruling the board said that the terms of the Mayo County Council Development Contribution Scheme for the area had not been properly applied in the case.
So it reduced the financial contribution sought from Jackita Limited to €97,069.45.
