FROST is on the way, according to Met. Eireann
Tonight will turn very cold with frost early on, according to Met. Eireann
Overall it will be mostly dry with good clear spells but heavy showers will continue over the northwest and north with the risk of hail and some turning wintry on higher ground.
Lowest temperatures falling to between zero and -3 degrees and winds will ease leading to a widespread sharp to severe frost and icy roads.
Friday will be a breezy and very cold day. There will be scattered showers with good sunny spells but showers will be frequent and heavy in the west and north with risk of hail, sleet and snow even on lower ground and the odd thundery downpour. Top temperatures of just 3 to 6 degrees in freshening west to northwest winds.
Cold conditions will persist over the weekend, with frost and ice. Temperatures well below normal by day, despite some sunshine and also below by night. It will remain early next week.
