TD concerned over delay in publishing Mayo GMIT Campus report
MAYO Fianna Fáil Deputy Lisa Chambers has called on the Higher Education Authority (HEA) and the Minister for Education and Skills Richard Bruton to publish the final report of the GMIT Working Group without any further delay.
Speaking on the matter, Deputy Chambers said “I have been informed through a parliamentary question I submitted that the work of The GMIT Working Group has been completed and they have submitted their final report to the Higher Education Authority (HEA) for approval.
“Given that the report was due to be published in September and it has not yet even reached the department for consideration, questions need to be answered as to why it has been delayed and when will we expect to see the report published?” she continued.
“I have written to both the HEA and the minister seeking for the report to be published without any further delay and to provide a date for when the report will be published so the public know when we can expect it.”
"Publication is necessary so we can assess the working groups recommendations, see what is required to secure the future of the Mayo campus and seek the necessary resources," added Depeuty Chambers.
