'Nicks' returns to Celtic
CASTLEBAR Celtic have appointed Michael 'Nicks' McNicholas as first team manager, with Eamon Crean as his assistant. McNicholas replaces Conor O'Grady in the managerial role.
A former player and manager at Celtic, McNicholas was most recently involved as Ballina Town manager, where he brought the first team very close to Super League success.
In his spell as manager of Castlebar Celtic he led the club to Connaught Junior Cup, back in 2003. He was the last manager to bring the trophy to Pavillion Road.
In a statement announcing McNicholas' arrival as manager, Castlebar Celtic secretary Noel Coll said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have someone of Michael's calibre and experience at the club. We have full trust and faith in his ability to take the club and first team forward, and the whole club are extremely excited at the prospect of challenging for honours under Michael.”
Mr. Coll added: “All at Castlebar Celtic would also like to take this opportunity to thank Conor O'Grady for his professionalism and commitment during his time at the club, and we wish him all the best moving forward.”
Nicks' first game in charge will be a Connaught Cup encounter away to either Cois Fharraige or Moylough '79 on Sunday, January 14.
