Passing of retired Castlebar Garda Sergeant
THE death has taken place of Michael Shaughnessy, 4 Spencer Park, Castlebar, and formerly of Athenry, Co. Galway,
A retired Garda Sergeant who held the role of Inspector of Weights and Measures during his time in the force, he was held in very high regard in the community.
A lifelong Irish language enthusiast, he had a deep love of the sport of hurling.
He is survived by his wife Sheila, sons Eoin and Eamonn, daughters Brighid and Eileen, sister Margaret (Pinto), son-in-law Ciarán, daughters-in-law Siobhán and Tricia, grandchildren Bob, Julia, Lara, Moya and Clíodhna, nephews, nieces, neighbours, relatives and friends, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered
His remains will be reposing at Coady's Funeral Home, Castlebar, tomorrow (Friday) evening from 5 p.m. with removal at 7 p.m. to the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar.
Requiem Mass takes place Saturday at 11 a.m. with burial afterwards in the New Cemetery.
