Funding of €1.49m. allocated for Mayo road safety improvement works
THE Minister for Rural and Community Development has welcomed the announcement of funding of €1.49 million to Mayo County Council under the 2018 Specific Improvement Grant and the 2018 Safety Improvement Works on regional and local roads.
He confirmed that the following road / junctions have received funding under this scheme:

Minister Ring stated: “I had made several representations to the Department of Transport, Tourism & Sports in relation to safety measures around the county and I am particularly pleased to see that funding of €175,000 has been approved for the Robeen Cross Junction Improvement which was the scene of a very serious accident a few months ago.
“I had asked the council a few months ago to submit a detailed plan to address the serious issue at the Robeen Crossroads as I had been contacted by a number of people and I am delighted that this money has been secured.
“I warmly welcome this significant funding under the Low Cost Safety Scheme & Specific Improvement Grant. I believe this funding will result in much needed remedial works being carried out on these roads.”
