First Ballyhaunis scratch golfer is setting super pace

ANDREW Hickey, who is a member of Ballyhaunis Golf Club, was selected last May to play for Ireland in the Henry Cooper Under 18 boys competition in Kent, UK.

A Leaving Certificate student at St. Louis Community School, Kiltimagh, this was Andrew’s third outing for Ireland so far this season.

Last year he was selected to the Connaught provincial Under 18 golf team and was a member of the Irish Under 18 development panel.

He came third in the Irish Boys European Championships last summer. Andrew also became the first ever scratch golfer at Ballyhaunis Golf Club.

He started as a junior at the age of 10 and reached the prestigious milestone in just six years.

Ballyhaunis GC are so proud to have him as a member as he becomes the first young golfer to be recognised with one of our sports awards.
