Remarkable Lotto luck strikes again at Mayo shop
A LUCKY Mayo shop has struck gold in the lottery for the second time in six months.
Garryduff Stores, Pound Road, Castlebar, was informed this morning that it sold a €500,000 winning ticket in last night's Euro Millions.
This is the same outlet that sold a winning ticket for €28.97 million last July.
Staff member Pauline Brinklow said she could not believe it when a National Lottery employee arrived at the shop this morning to inform her of the win.
She said: “I have always been told that lightning never strikes twice in the one place. Well it does at Garryduff Stores in a very wonderful way. Let's hope the third time will be even luckier.”
Pauline confirmed it was not known who had won the windfall and she wished them well.
“It is fantastic news for somebody and their family this morning. All the best to them."
The shop is owned by Umesh and Rozalia Kumar.
Speaking to The Connaught Telegraph this morning, Rozalia said she was stunned to learn of the win so close to the July bonanza.
“There has been great excitement here this morning. Nobody can quite believe it. It will start sinking in later, I am sure.”
