Communities mourn passing of Mayo tarmacadam contractor

THE parishes of Turlough and Ross are mourning the passing at the weekend of widely known tarmacadam contractor Michael Keavney.

The deceased, of Bunduvowen, Ross, and late of Pigeon Hill, Turlough, Castlebar, was held in high regard and was associated with a number of community initiatives.

His work brought him to many parts of the county and news of his passing came as an immense shock.

He is survived by his partner Bernie, daughters Karen, Shauna, Sophie, Michaella and Alannah, son Thomas, sisters Margaret (Garrett), Turlough, and Bernie (Moore), Turlough, brothers-in-law John and Tom, uncle, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.

His remains will be reposing at the Coady Funeral Home, Castlebar, on Tuesday evening from 5 p.m. with removal at 8 p.m. to his residence.

Removal from his residence takes place on Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. to the Church of the Holy Family, Parke, for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Burial takes place afterwards in Parke New Cemetery.
