Island's first parade on dry land

INISHTURK is to hold its first St. Patrick's Day parade on land this year.

Normally the island celebrates the day with a sea parade, but this year all the fun will be on the island itself.

The parade will start at the harbour at 12 noon, following Mass. It will proceed in vehicles to the community club and then on foot to Portdoon.

There will be food in the community club at 3 p.m. - traditional bacon and cabbage and Irish stew, and vegetarian lasagne – a bowl of green, white and gold!
