Passing of legendary Mayo soccer referee
THE death has occurred of Patrick (Paddy) Moylette, McHale Road, and Lios na Circe, Saleen, Castlebar.
Aged 81, the deceased was a former secretary of the Mayo Football League and a renowned soccer referee.
He was a lifelong supporter of Castlebar Celtic Football Club and was actively involved in the club's underage structures for many years.
Paddy was, without question, one of the sport's best loved personalities and his sense of humour was legendary.
He was presented with the Mayo Football League's prestigious Hall of Fame Award a number of years ago and was honoured in similar fashion by Castlebar Celtic FC to mark his contribution to the club.
The deceased is survived by his sisters Ena Moylette, Ann Clarke and Bridie Derrig, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.
He will also be missed by his nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, neighbours and his many friends and football colleagues.
Paddy was predeceased by his sister Polly Warde and brother Jody.
His remains will be reposing at Kilcoyne’s Funeral Home, Thomas Street, tomorrow (Friday) evening from 5 o’clock with removal at 7 o’clock to the Church of the Holy Rosary, arriving at 7.30 p.m.
Requiem Mass takes place on Saturday morning at 11 o’clock with burial afterwards in the Old Cemetery, Castlebar.
