Solicitor introduced to courts
SIOBHÁN Durkan, a solicitor at P. O’Connor & Son, was introduced to the Mayo courts by Adrian Bourke, solicitor, at a sitting of Ballina District Court on Tuesday last.
Judge Mary Devins and members of An Garda Síochána, the Mayo Solicitors Bar Association and the Courts Service welcomed Ms. Durkan and wished her well.
A native of Lurga, Charlestown, Ms. Durkan worked in Dublin for the past 12 years, specialising in commercial and residential property, banking law and security. She brings further expertise to the award-winning law firm.
Managing partner, Patrick O’Connor said: “We have an impressive team of solicitors here in the firm and Siobhán will enhance that. We provide a first class legal service. The firm is keen to stress the quality of service we offer at corporate and commercial level. Siobhán will be a huge asset in this regard.”
The Charlestown woman has come back to her roots after gaining experience in Dublin. One of five children of Margaret and Paddy Durkan, Siobhán attended St. Patrick’s National School in Cloonlyon where a love of GAA and learning was fostered. She later attended St. Joseph’s Secondary School in Charlestown before doing a degree in UCD and then qualifying as a solicitor in 2005.
Having trained in the Dublin firm Hamilton Turner Solicitors, she took up a position as an assistant solicitor in the commercial property department in Eversheds, advising some of the most active developers of the time in the Irish property market on residential and commercial property developments.
Prior to joining P. O’Connor & Son, Siobhán worked as an in-house solicitor with Bank of Ireland where she advised on all aspects of banking law, regulation and security.
Said Siobhán: “I am delighted to relocate to the west to work in the renowned Swinford law firm.”
