Passing of member of popular Castlebar family
THE death has taken place of Philomena Marden (née Mee), Culcastle, Kilmovee, and formerly of St. Bridget’s Crescent and McHale Road, Castlebar.
A member of an old and respected family, the deceased, who grew up in McHale Road, spent much of her life in England and the US before returning to her native county some years ago.
She was a nurse by profession and had a life-long love of poetry.
Daughter of the late James and Bridget Mee, McHale Road, she was predeceased by her husband Fred and is survived by her son Freddy, brother Johnny, a former Mayo county councillor, and sisters Margaret Moran and Bernadette Keaveney.
Deepest sympathy is tendered to the Mee and Marden families on their loss.
Her remains will be reposing at Kilcoyne’s Funeral Home, Thomas Street, Castlebar, on Sunday evening from 5 o’clock with removal at 7 o’clock to the Church of the Holy Rosary.
Requiem Mass takes place on Monday morning at 11 o’clock with burial afterwards in the New Cemetery.
May her gentle soul rest in peace.
