€96,000 for heritage projects

FUNDING of €96,000 is to be invested in heritage projects in Mayo as part of the Built Heritage Investment Scheme and Structures at Risk Fund for 2018.

The funding will allow for the conservation and repair of protected structures in the county, explained Minister Michael Ring, and it expected the schemes will generate significant employment in the conservation and construction industries.

The heritage projects approved funding under the Built Heritage Investment Scheme include:

Holy Trinity Church, Westport, €6,428

Railway Hotel, Westport, €6,428

Ballinrobe House, Ballinrobe, €6,428

St. Mary's Church, Westport, €6,428

Turlough Lodge, Turlough, €6,428

St. Catherine's Church, Louisburgh, €5,004

Church of St. Charles the Martyr, €6,428

The Old Rectory, Westport, €6,428

 

Structures at Risk Fund 2018 projects:

St. Catherine's Church, Church Street, Louisburgh, €15,000

Milford House, Cloghans Hill, €22,000

Turlough Lodge, Leckneen, Turlough, €9,000

 

Ireland's heritage buildings and protected structures are a vital part of the infrastructure of our villages, towns, and cities including our national economy,” said Minister Ring. “This investment is welcome news for those heritage buildings and will help to protect them into the future.”
