Exclusive image of Castlebar's new swimming pool

THE new multi-mullion-euro indoor swimming pool and gymnasium near Lough Lannagh, Castlebar, is nearing completion.

The eight-lane pool has been filled with water and, as our exclusive photograph shows, it looks very impressive.

A systems room to heat and maintain the water to a very high standard is also in place and will be fully operational shortly.

The finishing touches will be put to the complex over the coming weeks and will be ready to open in June.

The main contractors for the project are PJ McLoughlin Limited and KD Group, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers.

Councillor Blackie Gavin praised the workers for their expertise and professionalism.

"The people of Castlebar will be very proud of this new facility when it opens in a few weeks time. It's a credit to everybody concerned." he added.
