Tavern nominated for Best Seafood Experience
THE awards season has kicked off in fine style for The Tavern, Murrisk, which has been nominated for the national Best Seafood Experience in the Restaurant Association of Ireland Awards.
This is a result of public voting, which is a real indication of satisfaction from customers.
“We’re just delighted,” said Myles and Ruth O’Brien, proprietors of The Tavern. “We consistently get great feedback directly from our customers, but it’s really nice when they go to the bother of voting for us in a public forum. We really appreciate it.”
Fresh fish is always on the menu, including lobster straight from the tank, Clew Bay oysters and mussels from Killary.
Euro Toque chef Myles enjoys cooking with fish and adding the fruits of foraging expeditions where possible. Seasonal samphire is a particular favourite.
Last year The Tavern consolidated its position as a leading gastro pub, winning the Best Wild Atlantic Way Restaurant at the Gold Medal Awards and once again featuring in the prestigious Michelin Eating Out in Pubs Guide - one of just 32 pubs in all of Ireland.
Located at the foot of Croagh Patrick, The Tavern serves food from 12.30 p.m. every day except Christmas Day.
