Carragh carries Kilmeena hopes in Mayo Rose contest
MAYO ROSE CONTESTANT NO. 3: CARRAGH RYAN, KILMEENA
TWENTY-three year-old Carragh Ryan hails from from Kilmeena, Westport.
Carragh is a fully qualified beauty therapist andI also holds a qualification in Early Childhood Care and Education.
Said Carragh: “I am part of a GAA mad family and my brother John and I both play for our local club, Kilmeena. I was encouraged to dust off my boots for 2018 joining our ladies senior team, which is only in its second year.
"In my spare time I love going to Mayo matches up and going down the country with my boyfriend Craig and feel a summer is not complete without a trip to Croke Park.
“I also enjoy walking or cycling the greenway with my friends, which is literally on our doorstep. I look forward to Friday night get-togethers with the girls, which can involve movie nights, ordering in takeaways and catching up on the week’s antics.
"I have recently taken up sign language as I think it would be great to be able to communicate with those who have hearing difficulties.
“My claim to fame to date is that I was chosen to play a part in a Coleraine cheese ad in 2001. . . thankfully it can no longer be found on the internet! (Tried and tested by my friends!)
“Entering this year’s Mayo Rose selection has been a wonderful experience so far and I consider myself very lucky to have had the opportunity to meet so many amazing young women, any of which would be a brilliant representative for Mayo in Tralee this summer.
"I’d like to thank my family who kindly sponsored me. I am using this opportunity to raise funds and awareness for a charity close to my own heart, Western Alzheimers,”
The selection event takes place at the McWilliam Hotel, Claremorris, next Saturday night.
