Passing of former Swinford publican and taxi operator
THE death has taken place of Michael Rice, Derryronane, Kilkelly Road, Swinford, and late of Moneen, Castlebar.
A member of a much-loved and respected family, news of his passing has evoked an immense sense of loss and sadness.
He worked for Telecom Eireann for many years before opening a public house and taxi business in Swinford.
He had a lovely singing voice and starred in a number of Christmas Pantomimes in Castlebar over the years.
Michael is survived by his wife Ann, daughters Deirdre (McNicholas), Fiona, Aoife, Aisling and Erín, sons-in-law Dave and Tommy, grandchildren Mark, Emma, Willow and Dáire, brothers Tommy, Sean, Seamus and Nacy, sisters Eileen, Maureen and Pat, mother-in-law Peggy (Sheeran), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, neighbours, relatives and friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.
He was predeceased by his daughter Tara, sister Carmel and brother Gussie.
His remains will be reposing at Coady's Funeral Home tomorrow (Thursday) evening from 5.30 p.m. with removal at 7.30 p.m. to his residence in Swinford.
Removal on Friday morning from his residence takes place at 11.30 a.m. to The Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar for Funeral Mass at 1 p.m., with burial afterwards in Castlebar New Cemetery. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
