New TV series features Mayo's Ballinafad House
THE brand new restoration series, The Great House Revival, is starting on RTÉ One this Sunday at 9.30 p.m. and features an exciting project from Mayo.
The show is presented by architect Hugh Wallace and features everything from tiny derelict cottages with very limited budgets to a 110-room abandoned mansion, filmed across two years.
Episode one delves into one of the biggest restoration projects Hugh has ever worked on – Ballinafad House in Co. Mayo.
Owner Bede Tannock has come halfway across the world from Perth, Australia, to rescue Ballinafad House from dereliction. Bede is a qualified architect and cabinet maker and plans to put his skills to good use as he gets hands-on with work onsite.
The weather in the west of Ireland literally dissolves buildings over time and Ballinafad House is at a dangerous tipping point.
This is a restoration on an immense scale.
Tune in to The Great House Revival every Sunday at 9.30 p.m. on RTÉ ONE.
The series is produced by Animo Television for RTÉ ONE.
