Local designer recreates Meghan Markle's wedding dress
LOCAL bridal business Ourania Bridal, owned by designer Thomas Heverin, showcased his skill by producing a replica of the wedding dress worn by Meghan Markle on Saturday, just 48 hours after the royal wedding.
Thomas admired the dress and said: “The simplicity of the style lines were beautiful and I couldn’t wait to make it.”
The crepe dress with bateau neckline and three-quarter length sleeve was created with a bonded crepe, as per the original, to give the dress body but at the same time allowing for comfortable movement.
Thomas, who launched the dress in his monthly Facebook live video last evening (Tuesday), worked in collaboration with Allure hairdressing in Ballina and model Sarah Donnelly.
Anybody thinking of wearing the dress should be advised that it is a one-off piece, although Thomas will create variations of the dress again.
If anybody would like to see the dress, the video is available on https://www.facebook.com/Ourania-by-Thomas-Heverin-862565847207113/.
Ourania Bridal, by Thomas Heverin, opened in September 2016. The studios are based on the Crossmolina Road, just outside Ballina.
