Foul play ruled out in Charlestown death

A POST mortem examinaton today has ruled out foul play in the death of a Polish national who was found dead in Charlestown over the weekend.

The autopsy on the remains of a man named locally as 54-year-old Zdzislaw Sokolowski was carried out at Mayo University Hospital by the Deputy State Pathologist, Dr. Michael Curtis, at the request of gardai.

Mr. Sokolowski was found dead in a flat at Main Street, Charlestown, where he lived alone.

No funeral arrangements have yet been announced for the former mechanic who had been living in the east Mayo area for some time.
