€8,000 awarded to Mayo music organisations
THE Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring, has confirmed that three organisations in Mayo have been successful under the Non-Mainstream Music Education Bursary Scheme 2018 from the Department of Education and Skills.
Minister Michael Ring stated: “The principle of this scheme is to provide support by way of a cash grant to smaller scale music education/community music initiatives and organisations around the country.
“These individuals, organisations and groups are providing access for young people and children to varied music education experiences in our communities”.
“This funding is very useful and it results in our talented young musicians being encouraged to develop and flourish.”
The successful Mayo organisations: €5,500 Mayo Concert Orchestra, Castlebar Concert Band, Mayo Youth Orchestra, €1,250 Partry Kids Choir, and €1,250 Tourmakeady CCE.
