'Strike up the Bands' at the Linenhall Arts Centre

CASTLEBAR Concert Band host the second leg of the 'Strike Up the Bands' series in the Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar, tomorrow (Friday) night, at 8 30 p.m.

The band, under the musical direction of Mary Curran, will be joined on stage by the Foxford Brass and Reel Band and the Ballina Band of Brass.

Getting underway at 8.30 p.m., each of the bands will give a 30-minute recital of some the best pieces on which they have been working this year.

The first leg of the series took place at Foxford Sports Centre a number of weeks ago and proved a major success.

Admission is free but patrons are encouraged to support a bucket collection which takes place on the night.

The majority of the musicians on stage will also be involved in the Castlebar Band Festival on Saturday, June 30, which is being held in conjunction with the Castlebar International Four Days Walks.

Doors open at 7.30 p.m. and seats will be allocated on a 'first come, first seated' basis.
