Taking on Peak of the Reek Challenge

ALMOST 50 business and community representatives in the west are coming together tomorrow (Friday, June 15) to climb Croagh Patrick to highlight the challenges facing those living with dementia and to raise much need funds for service provision.

There are currently 55,000 people living with dementia in Ireland and 10% of those are in areas of Galway, Mayo and Roscommon. These figures are set to treble by 2040.

The majority of services provided by Western Alzheimers are free or at a significantly reduced fee, making them accessible to everybody irrelevant of their circumstances.

Funds raised from this challenge will go towards the expansion of Western Alzheimers range of services in Galway, Mayo and Roscommon.

Participants who complete the challenge, by climbing Croagh Patrick and raising the target of €2,000, will be included in a donor recognition wall which will be displayed in the new wing of Marian House Nursing Home in Ballindine.

You can lend your support and sponsor climbers on the website www.westernalzheimers.ie.
