Julie on Irish fly fishing team
MAYO will be represented on the Irish Ladies Fly Fishing Association team competing in the international ladies Home Nations competition next week.
This yearly event is hosted by one of the four nations - England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. This year's competition is being hosted by Wales and 48 anglers will be competing for gold on June 28 in Lyn Clywedog.
Foxford's Julie McGeever is a member of the Irish team. This is Julie’s 11th international cap for Ireland.
Julie, from Freshford, Co. Kilkenny, and living in Foxford, took up fishing during her time at Healy’s Hotel, the well-known anglers' hotel in Pontoon. She would fish with her guests on Loughs Cullen and Conn for brown trout and salmon fishing on the River Moy.
Julie is delighted to be on this year's team heading to Wales and we wish her and her colleagues every success.
