Writer Sally in running for Man Booker prize
CASTLEBAR born author Sally Rooney is one of three Irish authors included in the Man Booker prize long-list.
The 27-year-old has been long-listed for her second novel, Normal People, which will be published next month.
The two other Irish authors on the list are Donal Ryan and Anna Burns.
Despite her tender years, Sally already has an outstanding reputation as a writer.
Her debut novel – Conversations with Friends – launched at the Linenhall Arts Centre last year, has been hugely acclaimed.
Sally is a daughter of Marie Farrell and Kieran Rooney, Newport Road, Castlebar. Marie is former director of the Linenhall Arts Centre.
