€150,000 for two Mayo playgrounds

FUNDING of €149,964.71 is to be invested in playgrounds in Newport and Ballintubber under the LEADER Programme.

The funding, announced today by Minister Michael Ring, will be provided by his department through the Mayo LEADER Local Action Group.

In Ballintubber, €74,984.91 will go towards the development of a community playground.

An upgrade and expansion works at Newport playground, including to cater for children with disabilities and wheelchair users, will be funded to the tune of €74,979.80.

Commented Minister Ring: “I’m delighted to announce support for the communities in Newport and Ballintubber to develop and improve community playground in their areas. This is great news for families with young children in these areas.”
