€100,000 funding boost for Erris Gaeltacht

APPROVAL has been sanctioned for a language plan for the Maigh Eo Thuaidh Gaeltacht -  providing a significant boost to the Erris area.

A total of up to €100,000 over a full 12-month period will be available to begin the implementation of the plan in the current year.

This funding will include covering the salary of a Language Planning Officer who will oversee the implementation of the Maigh Eo Thuaidh Language Plan.

Welcoming the announcement, the Minister for Rural and Community Development Michale Ring said: “The implementation of the language plan in Maigh Eo Thuaidh will start shortly.

"Údarás na Gaeltachta will soon be in touch with the lead language organisation to begin the implementation of the plan. I would like to commend both communities for their work in helping to put this plan together.”
