Fodder lost and machinery damaged in central Mayo fire

FIRE tenders have today been battling what is described as “a significant farmyard fire” close to Balla.

Early reports suggest that a quantity of fodder has been destroyed as well as machinery damaged.

The alarm was raised around 1.30 p.m.

A number of units of Mayo Fire Brigade have been fighting the outbreak.

The farm affected is off the Balla to Kiltimagh road, a short distance from Balla.

Neighbours have been helping the affected farm family and firemen in their efforts to save property and bring the outbreak under control
