Hospice issue bogus collection warning
THE Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation has today issued a warning about a bogus collection taking place in Roscommon and surrounding areas.
In the warning issued on its Facebook page, the Foundation said: “We have been informed that there are people calling door-to-door in the Roscommon and surrounding areas asking residents to support hospice by signing up for a €12 monthly direct debit.
“Just to clarify that any donations given - direct debit sign ups or cash - are NOT in support of Mayo Roscommon Hospice and none of the revenue sources listed will come to Mayo Roscommon Hospice.
“If you would like to support Mayo Roscommon Hospice by signing up to a direct debit, please contact us on (094) 9388666.”
The post further explained: “All genuine Mayo Roscommon Hospice cards have our logo on the front of each card. To avoid bogus collecting, please don’t subscribe unless you know the person presenting at your door.
“If a person calls to your door that you do not know, collecting for Mayo Roscommon Hospice, please DON'T SUBSCRIBE, but contact your local garda station immediately with a description of the person collecting.
“Please spread the word for Mayo Roscommon Hospice regarding our guidance information on valid sponsorship cards and door-to-door collections... and only give to someone you know. Thank you.”
