Date announced for Carnacon ban appeal hearing
AN appeal to the Connaught Ladies GAA Council by the Carnacon Ladies GAA Club against the ban imposed on their senior team from taking part in the Mayo senior league and club championship is to be heard on Thursday night next in the Connaught Centre of Excellence Bekan.
This has been confirmed to The Connaught Telegraph by the Connaught Ladies GAA Council Administrator Ita Hannon.
Stated Ita: “I have received an appeal from Carnacon GAA Club regarding the ban imposed on their team for the remainder of the 2018 season by the Mayo County Board earlier in the week.
“This appeal will be heard by the Connaught Ladies GAA appeals committee on Thursday night in the Centre of Excellence in Bekan.”
Since the news of the sanctions imposed on the Carnacon Ladies GAA senior team emerged on Wednesday morning there has been widespread shock and total amazement, not alone within the county, but nationally.
This ban imposed on the Carnacon senior team, by Mayo County Board and its delegates, came under rule 288 which is for bringing the game into disrepute during the saga over some of their team members withdrawing for the county senior panel last month.
