Young man loses life in Newport car accident

AN investigation is taking place following a fatal accident in Newport.

A car was discovered in Newport River at the Quay Road of the town earlier today.

The body of a man in his 20s was subsequently recovered from the car by the emergency services..

The man’s body was removed to Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar for a post mortem examination.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have been at the scene.
