Funeral arrangements of young Mayo sportsman who died tragically
THE young man who was fatally injured in a road traffic accident on Saturday in Newport will be laid to rest in Burrishoole Cemetery on Wednesday.
David Walsh's remains will repose at the family residence in Derrykell on Tuesday evening until 8 p.m. with removal on Wednesday morning to St. Patrick’s Church, Newport for Mass at 12 noon
David played for local GAA club Burrishoole as well as soccer club Glenhest Rovers FC.
The local club, Glenhest Rovers FC, paid tribute to him in a post on Facebook describing him as a “man you could always rely on.”
“It is with a heavy heart that we must confirm the death of our inspirational clubmate David Walsh.
“Without a shadow of a doubt the toughest and saddest day and days this club has ever faced and a dark shadow has been cast across the club and wider Newport community with the shock news.
“A fantastic player leader, passionate, humorous and very witty, competitive, a great friend, teammate and all round good character.”
David, son of Brendan and Margaret Walsh, is also survived by his sisters, Ciara and Chloe, is also survived by his grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins and a large circle of friends.
