Garda alert issued to retailers over barcode scam

A GARDA alert has been issued over a new scam aimed at retailers.

Criminals are coming into stores with pre-printed rolls of barcodes for cheap items.

They are sticking them to more expensive items and then paying at cash desks.

A number of offences have beeb detected across the country in recent weeks.

Cashiers in all retail outlets are urged to be vigilant.
