Gardai numbers in Ballinrobe district set to be beefed up
AN assurance was given today by a Garda Superintendent that the number of garda personnel in the Ballinrobe district is going to be beefed up in the near future.
The increase has been decided on following consultations between Chief Supt. Pat Diskin, head of the Mayo Garda Division, and Claremorris based Supt. Tom Calvey.
Responding to concerns raised at a meeting of Mayo Joint Policing Committee (JPC) in Ballina, Superintendent Joe McKenna, representing Chief Supt Diskin, relayed the welcome news that an increase in garda personnel in Ballinrobe is in the offing.
Councillor Damian Ryan highlighted the need for increased resources, noting that the summertime population in Cong ‘explodes’ but often there is only one garda on duty.
