Long-serving Mayo judge is set to retire
JUDGE Mary Devins is set to retire from the Mayo District Court circuit after almost 20 years in the role.
Although official confirmation is not yet forthcoming, her decision to enter retirement is widely known within the legal profession in the county.
A native of Derry, she was appointed to the District Court in 1998 and took up her role in Mayo the following year.
She is due to make a formal announcement of her retirement next month. Judge Deirdre Gearty is currently deputising for her at courts in Mayo.
Judge Devins resides in Sligo where she previously practiced as a solicitor. She is married to former Sligo TD and Minister of State, Dr. Jimmy Devins.
