Solan withdraws his name for Mayo job
THERE was a shock development in the quest for a new Mayo senior manager following the decision of Michael Solan to withdraw his name.
No reason was given as to why the Ballaghaderreen man, who is currently manager of the county Under 20 side and had a backroom team in place, decided to withdraw his name.
His decision not to go forward for an interview for the job, which was to be held early next week, now clears the way for the return of James Horan as Mayo manager for the second time.
Horan is due to meet with Mayo County Board officials next week.
In a statement issued today, Solan said: “I have informed the Mayo County Board that I am withdrawing my name from the nomination process for the Mayo senior football team manager. I would like to thank everyone who helped me in this process and I would like to wish the Mayo senior team every success in 2019 and beyond.”
