Comhaltas Concert Tour of Champions is coming to Mayo

Beidh Turas Chomhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Macalla na hÉireann ar chachúirt go gairid agus seó tradisiúnta den scoth ar stáitse ar fud na tíre.

Macalla na hÉireann, the 2018 Comhaltas Concert Tour of Ireland, will perform in Westport Town Hall on Monday, October 15, at 8 p.m. as part of its 14-venue tour of Ireland from October 7 to 20.

The concert in Westport Town Hall on Monday, October 15, is hosted by CCÉ Caislean an Bharraigh.

Sponsored by Bus Éireann this annual Concert Tour Bus features the best of traditional talent drawn from the four Provinces of Ireland.

Each year the Comhaltas Tour of Ireland assembles a fine mix of established artistes together with up-and-coming young stars. These are blended together into a fast-moving and colourful show that appeals to both the connoisseurs and peripheral fans of Irish traditional entertainment.

Macalla hÉireann reflects the breadth and depth of traditional Irish music, dance and song and is produced by Cian Kearins and Niamh O’ Sullivan.

Artists that are selected by Comhaltas for such tours are at the highest level of their performance art form, be they musicians, singers or dancers. They are recognised as cultural ambassadors and role models for younger members in their Comhaltas Branches, their county and their province.

This year, Seamus Tiernan from CCÉ Caislean an Bharraigh has been selected as musician and singer for the Comhaltas Concert Tour. In addition Sandra and Laura Ganley from Kilmovee have been selected as dancers.  Mayo will have three performers on this prestigious tour and we wish them well.

Tá Bliain na Gaeilge cuimsithe sa chlár Mhacalla na hÉireann i mbliana agus an Ghaeilge fite fuaite leis na foinn agus na hamhráin atá á chasadh gach oíche. Macalla na hÉireann will also celebrate Bliain na Gaeilge 2018 through music and song.
