Ballintubber progress in bid for first provincial crown

Mayo champions Ballintubber have advanced to the semi-finals of the Connacht Club SFC.

They overcame the stubborn challenge of Tourlestrane at Enniscrone in the opening round by the narrowest of margins, Cillian O'Connor being the hero of the triumph with a 0-5 return.

Others to star in the win against the Sligo kingpins, who finished with 13 players, were Jason Gibbons and Michael Plunkett.

They now face Aughawillan at Carrick-on-Shannon in the penultimate round next Sunday (1.30 p.m.) while Corofin and Clann Na Gael contest the other semi-final.
