Election poster ban introduced in Mayo county town

A BAN on election posters has been introduced in Castlebar.

The decision was taken today by members of the town's municipal district on foot of a motion by Sinn Fein Councillor Joe McHale.

The news has been welcomed by the local Tidy Towns committee which succeeded in having all posters removed from the urban area ahead of last month's presidential election.
