Mayo alert over Christmas text scam

^{Gardaí in Mayo have issued an alert after a Christmas scam was brought to their attention.}

^{It was reported that a number of people received text messages today which gave the false impressive they were from the Bank of Ireland.}

^{The text told the recipient: "Your BOI card has been blocked", advising them to log onto a listed website in order 'to follow the unlocking procedure'.}

^{Those who receive such texts are advised to delete them immediately and contact their bank.}
