Mayo author wins prestigious book award

Castlebar author Sally Rooney's second book, Normal People, has been chosen for the Costa Novel Award.

It is one of the most prestigious accolades in the literary world and the triumph represents another major breakthrough by Ms. Rooney.

At 27, she is the youngest ever recipient of the award.

If you have not read 'Normal People', then get your hands on a copy. It's brilliant.

Sally is a daughter of Kieran Rooney and Marie Farrell, Newport Road, Castlebar.
