Duffy replaces Horan in Westport hot seat

FORMER Mayo minor manager Tony Duffy has taken over as senior team manager in Wesport.

Duffy, who also did a stint as Ballintubber senior manager, takes over following the vacancy created by James Horan's return to the Mayo senior team manager.

Duffy's appointment was ratifed at a metting of Westport GAA Club.

Other news on the club scene is that Castlebar Mitchels have added two high profile names to their backroom team for 2019.

Former players Paul Jordan and Mickey Feeney will join the current management team of Declan Shaw, Eamon 'Benji' Smith and Michael ‘Duther’ Durkan.

Jordan will be taking on the role as coach to the team.

Former Galway Under 21 football manager, Alan Flynn, who was with the Mitchels last year, has gone to Kildare to join Cian O'Neill's backroom team.

Neill Heffernan has returned to the helm in Claremorris and will be joined by Norman O'Brien from Kilmaine.

Also on board the Claremorris backroom team is Mayo and Carnacon player Fiona McHale, who is is based in Limerick where she is training a number of the Claremorris panel who are studying at UL.

Peter Ford and Shane Conway are expected to remain with Breaffy for another season, while Ballintubber are also to retain their senior management team led by Kevin Johnson.

Crossmolina will be hoping to bounce back from their demotion last season and look to Enda Lavelle as manager with Thomas Jordan, Liam Moffatt and Barry Loftus in the backroom team.

Padraig Costello from Ballinrobe has taken over the reins at Davitts for the coming year.

Ballina Stephenites have also retained their managment team under Enda Gilvarry.

Meanwhile, county junior champions Balla, who will be playing intermediate football next year, are looking for a new manager following the departure of Pat Fallon, who is based in Galway and was unable to commit to his home club for another year.
