US biotech firm preparing for move to Castlebar
US biotech firm. Meissner, is set to become tenants of the IDA facility in Castlebar.
The Connaught Telegraph revealed earlier this month that a company had been identified for the state-of-the-art plant which was officially opened by Minister Michael Ring last February.
Now it has been reported that the company in question is Meissner and the hope is that 150 new jobs will be created.
The firm provides single-use filtration systems used across the pharmaceutical, bioprocessing, food and beverages, and chemical industries.
An official announcement has not yet been made by IDA Ireland in respect of the matter.
However, local Fine Gael Councillor Cyril Burke said he is very confident that the company will start moving into the buildings at Breaffy Road within a relatively short period of time.
"It is excellent news for Castlebar and I am optimistic of further job announcement unfolding over the coming year," he added.
