Mayo native appointed Circuit Court judge
SWINFORD native Judge John O'Connor, a judge of the District Court, has been appointed to the Circuit Court.
Judge O'Connor has been nominated to the Circuit Court to fill the vacancy arising following the retirement of Her Hon. Judge Doirbhile Flanagan this month.
Judge O'Connor qualified as a solictior in 1980 and was with the family firm, P. O'Connor & Son, in Swinford, until 1989. He then moved to Dublin where he set up his own practice.
He was appointed a District Court judge in 2012.
He was on the council of the Law Society for a number of years and was also President of the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association.
Brother of Pat, Tom and Tony, a High Court Judge, he comes from a family with a very proud legal tradition.
