Castlebar butcher shop announces its decision to close

A TRADITIONAL butcher shop in Castlebar has announced its decision to close after five years in business.

Next Saturday will be the final day of trading for the award-winning De Burca shop at Main Street.

A statement issued by the family said: "We are very sad to announce that we will be closing our beautiful little shop on Saturday.

"It has been a long hard road to this decision, but it's a fate faced by many butcher shops at the moment.

"The last five years has been amazing in many ways. It has been seriously hard work but the best of it has been our little slot on Main Street."

The statement went on to thank all those who supported them over the years, including their staff members.

Town centre traders have been saddened to learn the news, which represents a significant blow to the local retail sector.

A statement issued by Castlebar Chamber of Commerce said it was a very sad day for the local retail sector.

It wished every success to Sean and Sarah in their future endeavours.
