Sworn in as High Court judge

YESTERDAY (Monday), President Michael D. Higgins appointed John Jordan, SC (pictured on the right), and Alexander Owens, SC, as judges to the High Court.

Mr. Jordan, a native of Castlebar, was nominated by the government for appointment by the President to the High Court last month.

A son of Mary and the late Mark Jordan, Knockthomas, Castlebar, Mr. Jordan was educated at St. Patrick's NS and St. Gerald's College, Castlebar, before studying law.

He was the State prosecutor in the circuit court in Mayo prior to his appointment as a senior counsel in 2011.
