Investigations continuing in Melbourne into traffic accident which claimed Mayo woman's life

POLICE in Melbourne, Australia, are continuing their investigations into a two-car collision which has claimed the life of young Mayo woman.

The woman (23), who only recently started working in Australia, sustained fatal injuries in the crash.

She was travelling to her place of employment with a number of other people when the accident took place yesterday.

It is understood a second Mayo woman sustained injuries in the accident and she has been receiving medical treatment.

No other details are available at this stage.

In a statement, the Department of Foreign Affairs said it is providing consular assistance.
