Junk Kouture semi-finalists announced
AFTER much deliberation, Bank of Ireland Junk Kouture has announced which winning designs will go forward to represent their school in the semi-finals next month.
The west region semi-final will be held in the TF Royal Theatre, Castlebar, on March 7, with the national grant final to take place in the 3 Arena on May 2.
Mayo schools through to the final include: St. Mary's SS, Ballina; Youthreach Ballinrobe; Ballyhaunis Community School; St. Joseph's SS, Castlebar; Davitt College, Castlebar; Mount St. Michael, Claremorris; St. Louis CS, Kiltimagh; Sancta Maria College, Louisburgh; Scoil Muire agus Padraig, Swinford; and Sacred Heart School, Westport.
St. Joseph's have four representatives in the semi-final, while St. Louis have two. All the other Mayo schools have one representative each.
For designs that did not qualify there’s one last opportunity to make it to the semi-finals. Vote for your favourite team or design in the 'lifeline' vote on app.junkkouture.com and the team with the most votes in each region will win a spot at the semi-finals. The lifeline vote opens on Monday next, February 11, at 10 a.m. and will close on Friday, February 15.
“We were blown away by the standard and imagination of this year’s entries,” said Megan Kelly, operations manager. “The judges have had the most difficult job since the competition has begun to decide who should go forward to the semi-finals. We also had more entries this year, which made the decision choosing process even more challenging.”
